Franklin, Tennessee

I grew up in Gallatin, Tennessee, about 30 minutes north of Nashville. Growing up, Franklin, Tennessee, wasn't super popular; Nashville wasn't that popular either. However, both Nashville and Franklin, Tennessee, have gained popularity with tourists over the years. I traveled home recently for my grandfather's funeral, and while I was home, I knew I wanted to do something to keep my spirits up! My grandmother and grandfather loved Nashville and country music, so it is only fitting that I play tourist while in[...]

How To Dress Your Children For Snow!

I grew up in the south, right outside Nashville, Tennessee, in Gallatin. I remember we would get one to two good snows a year. I say that lightly because heavy snow in Gallatin (2 inches) would be considered a dusting in most towns where it snows a lot.It wasn't until we moved to Slovenia (In the Julian Alps) that we started to realize that we were dressing our children all wrong. We would walk around downtown Ljubljana, and all the children would be so happy, running around smiling, having the times of their[...]

Nashville, Tennessee

Below you'll find all the things I enjoy doing when I'm home visiting family. Although I haven't lived in Nashville in over 13 years I still call Nashville home. If you can get around a city without a GPS you can call that place home. (I have many homes at this point in my life!) Nashville will forever be my hometown tho.  Opryland Hotel We love staying at the Opryland when we visit Nashville. There's something to do year round!  Summer The Soundwaves outdoor waterpark is open. Walk to Gra[...]

Gilroy’s U-Pick Cherries

Today the boys and I went on an adventure to Gilroy, CA U-pick cherries. We've been strawberry and apple picking many times, but we've never been cherry picking. So when I saw the advertisement for U pick cherries I loaded the boys up and headed to Gilroy. (If you're new to Monterey that's about a 45-minute drive to Gilroy) This is the first time that this farm has offered U-Pick Cherries and they'll be open the next two weekends Thursday-Sunday (June 20-23) and (27-30) at 5920 Frazier Lake, Gilroy CA mak[...]

My La Mesa Home

PCS season is here! I thought before moving out of my house I would give a quick tour of the Cofete floorplan in La Mesa and on Fort Ord. We have lived in this house as a family of four and as a family of five and I can honestly say that it fit our needs perfectly! My Favorite things about this floor plan I loved that this house had two wings, having the two wings really make this house feel a lot larger than it really is. It's a great floor plan to host parties or have a room designed just fo[...]

McAnally Life Update

The McAnally Life Cliff Notes... So much has happened... I'll be honest since we moved from Ljubljana, Slovenia back to Monterey, California I needed a life break! I put my blog on the back burner and I focused on my career, family, and had a baby. In November 2017 we moved back to Monterey, California from Ljublijana, Slovenia. We thought this was the best place to move our children back to after a year of living abroad. We also knew we'd have friends from previous duty stations also getting stat[...]

Eat like a local in Monterey, California

When we move to a new city everything is new and it can be a little challenging to find the "real" local places. We normally don't find our "spots" until 6 months in. Lucky for us, this is our 2nd round of Monterey and we pretty much know all the ends and outs of this area! With all the friends that we have moving here next month, I thought I would share my knowledge with everyone and help save you the 6-month transition.  Don't forget to ask for local menus too! Lots of places around town have local menus a[...]
