Our Life in Bags…Again

If you've followed my blog for a while, you'll know that when we started this life, one of my first blog posts was called Our Life in Bags. It was only fitting that at the start of this new journey, I would start with the same topic, with some tips and tricks I've learned. As a disclaimer, some of the links in this blog may be affiliate links... but I promise I love all the items I'm recommending and personally own them myself! The first set of movers came, and they took 1,000 pounds of our UAB (Unaccompanie[...]

The Beginning… Life in Lithuania.

It's been a week since we arrived in Vilnius, Lithuania. I can't believe I'm typing that... it's crazy how quickly time flies when you're having fun and trying to figure out life in a different country. Our first week looked like Moving into our new house! We got super lucky and were able to be picked up at the airport and moved right into our new house. Our air shipment was actually waiting for us in our garage! We had great sponsors they packed our frig full of great food and brought some things ove[...]

McAnally Life Update

The McAnally Life Cliff Notes... So much has happened... I'll be honest since we moved from Ljubljana, Slovenia back to Monterey, California I needed a life break! I put my blog on the back burner and I focused on my career, family, and had a baby. In November 2017 we moved back to Monterey, California from Ljublijana, Slovenia. We thought this was the best place to move our children back to after a year of living abroad. We also knew we'd have friends from previous duty stations also getting stat[...]

Venice, Italy

Tyler's parents came to visit us in Slovenia in October, and the one thing that they really really wanted to do was go to Venice, Italy. We were lucky enough to only live 2 hours away, and it was so close I honestly couldn't say no.  Below is everything I did/wish I would have done. I hope this list makes visiting Venice with your children easier. It's so crowded! I feel like Venice has more Americans squeezed into that tiny city than any city in America! I'm not even kidding, it was like I drove[...]

Budapest, Hungary

When we travel with our children, we do things that are educational and fun with our children. Tyler loves to go to museums and tends to do these things while the children are napping during the day. During the day, while the children are up, we try to do something as a family that we would all enjoy! Budapest, Hungary, made this very, very easy! Budapest, Hungary, is the one place in Europe next to Spain that I wanted to visit! Sadly we could not make it to Spain this year, but we made it to Hungary, and[...]

Bratislava, Slovakia

We made a quick stop in Bratislava, Slovakia on our way from Vienna, Austria to Budapest, Hungary. We were told not to stay the night in Bratislava as it was a small, boring town! I wish now I would not have listened to them, and I wish we would have stayed the night! I did not expect to fall in love with this city, and enjoy myself as much as I did!  We didn't get to stay in Bratislava very long at all only 2 hours, and I didn't get to see half the things I wish I could have seen. We walked around[...]

Why My Kids Love Vienna

Last month we were lucky enough to travel to Vienna, Austria. I honestly wasn't too excited to visit Vienna, I'm not the type of "traveler" that enjoys seeing things that every American comes to Europe to see. (Make sense?) I like to be the person telling the stories of the "unknown land" I guess that's one reason why I loved Bosnia so much, it's not a big American tourist spot, and it makes telling my traveler stories that much better.  We arrived in Vienna, after a short 3-hour drive from Salzburg.[...]

Salzburg, Austria 1 Day with Kids!

Wolfgang Mozart and The Sound of Music are some of the first things I thought of when we decided we wanted to visit Salzburg. I, however, had no idea at how beautiful the city would be too. I loved seeing all the history, and walking the same streets that Mozart walked down... what a surreal experience to look at a building, and see a street and know that the famous musician that I studied and learned about all through elementary, middle and even high school once walked down the same streets I was curre[...]

Garmisch, Germany

The boys and I left on Thursday (last week) to head up to Germany and pick up Tyler and head out on our week long adventure to the northern European countries above Slovenia. (Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary) I thought I would do this adventure a little different and write a blog post about each city and country that we visited. (It's a lot of information!) On Thursday I kept Heath home from preschool and let Nolan go to school for a half day, and miss on Friday. The following week he was out on Fall bre[...]
