About

Hi there, I'm Brittany and this is my story.

I was your average American living in the United States, never imagining that one day I’d call so many other countries home. I didn’t get my first passport until I was 29, when we learned we were moving to Slovenia. My first international flight wasn’t for a vacation—it was to begin a new chapter of my life in a country I’d never visited.

Since then, I’ve lived in Slovenia, Lithuania, Germany, Türkiye, and now Uzbekistan. Each move has brought new places to explore, cultures to learn about, and experiences I never could have imagined when I first applied for that passport. Along the way, unfamiliar places have become home, and exploring has become part of everyday life.

One of the best parts of living overseas is sharing these experiences with people back home, especially Americans who may not have the opportunity to move or travel abroad. Through stories, photos, and everyday adventures, I hope to give you a glimpse of life in these places. Whether I’m exploring a local market or figuring out something new, I’m excited to bring you along.

Living overseas doesn’t mean every day feels like a vacation. There are still school mornings, grocery runs, piles of laundry, and three boys to keep up with. Sometimes the adventure is simply finding what I need at the store or trying to explain something in a language I’m still learning. Those everyday moments are a big part of the story, too.

One of my favorite ways to get to know a place is through its markets and little shops. I love seeing what people make, finding something unexpected, and bringing home pieces that remind me of where we’ve lived. Whether it’s a beautiful textile or a secondhand treasure, the fun is as much in the search as it is in what I find.

That’s what I want to share here: the places we explore, the things I find, and the funny moments that come with figuring out life abroad. You don’t need a passport to follow along—just a little curiosity. I hope my stories help you feel connected to places you may never have thought about visiting and give you a few laughs along the way.
