Let Me Take You To My Hometown, Gallatin, Tennessee

The theme song for this blog is Hometown by Zac Brown. (It’s been on full blast as I write this blog!)

It’s not every day that you get to write a blog about your hometown, but when you’ve been away for 18 years, “playing tourist” in your hometown is kinda fun! I can’t believe how much this town has changed. Lucky for me, the roads were all the same. (I didn’t get too lost!) The only things different were all the shops and the new courthouse and a few things along the way.

Let's Go Shopping

I decided to spend an entire day in downtown Gallatin, Tennessee, exploring all the coffee shops, restaurants, and little boutiques that had popped up since I left. It was an incredible experience to see Gallatin through the eyes of a “tourist” and “local” all in one. It’s hard to explain, but it’s a very cool experience. I encourage you to visit your hometown even if you still live there and experience it as a tourist for one day too.

My first stop was Gallatin Square. One of my favorite stores we walked into was Perch Home and Hospitality, which has such cute and unique gifts. I bought my boys three mini rabbits that I plan on putting in their Easter baskets. It also has a lot of cute books, cooking utensils, and super friendly staff. Make sure to follow them on Instagram, too.

The Artisan Hatchery, located right down the street from Perch, is a cute little store full of local artist art. Lots of paintings, pottery, jewelry, and so much more. If you’re looking for a unique gift for someone, this is the place I suggest stopping in! When we visited, I spoke with one of the owners, and they told me that they also offer classes and workshops; if I still lived locally, I would get involved! Seemed like a really great community and a great place to meet people with similar interests.

Timeless Treasures looked like a cute little store on the outside, but it was sadly not open when I visited. I hope to stop in and shop one day. Maybe this summer (I think we’re planning a summer vacation back to Tennessee…stay tuned)

Where To Get A Cup of Coffee

Black Press Coffee– I struggled to find a cup of coffee up to my European level. Since I’ve lived in Europe, coffee in The United States has tasted terrible. This is one of the first coffee shops where I’ve had a cup of coffee and could drink it. I loved it!

If you’re in town looking for a place to work while you sip a cup of coffee, you can rent office spaces for the day. They also have a fantastic cafe area with a ton of natural light. This would be one of my weekly working spots if I lived in Gallatin.

South Water Manor was the BIGGEST surprise and 100% a place I would spend a lot of my time if I lived in Gallatin. This Manor has a built-in coffee shop, restaurant, and boutique shops all over the Manor. This place is the perfect place to go if you’re looking at finishing up some work online and you’re like me, and you can’t focus at home. I wish I had known about this place sooner because I would have spent a few days drinking coffee while working in their work area. This is a work-from-home dream come true, not to mention the environment is 10/10.

Things To See in Gallatin

Bledsoe State ParkI spent much time here growing up. We camped every year, and as a teenager, I enjoyed hiking around the state park. Bledsoe is a great place to escape city life and enjoy nature

Triple Creek Park was developed after I graduated high school, but I have visited it many times with my family. It’s home to baseball and soccer fields, big playgrounds for kids, a huge walking track, and even a dog park for our furry family members.

Historic Rose Mount is a beautiful historic home in Gallatin (My favorite, and I almost got married here!) It’s a great place to visit and get a sense of the historic side of Gallatin.

Station Camp Greenway—Stretching about 5 miles, it’s a great place to walk, jog, and bring the kids’ scooters and bikes.

Where To Eat

Swaney Swift’s on The Square is a local restaurant on the square. It specializes in handcrafted hamburgers and shakes.

The Chocolate Covered Strawberry– is a local restaurant specializing in gourmet soups, salads, and sandwiches.

Starr Ranch- Hamburgers, salads, and grill-type food.

I hope you enjoyed my hometown tour! Next time you visit Nashville, make sure to make a day trip to Gallatin, Tennessee. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
