Parenting in Slovenia

When we first moved to Slovenia in December 2016 one thing that Tyler and I noticed right off the bat was Slovenians have the most well-behaved children and dogs! I'm not even kidding; I had to search hard one day to see a screaming child after many days of realizing that my children were the only ones screaming, not listening, and a total train wreck. I set out to figure out what they were doing right and what I was doing wrong. Below you will find what I've concluded from my research. They aren't helicopteri[...]

Pula, Croatia

When Tyler and I started to plan this year, we both decided that for everyone's birthday, we would make sure to travel someplace FUN! Lucky for us, we traveled so much the last couple of months we earned a free hotel with hotels.com. If you aren't familiar with hotels.com and travel ALOT, you need to hop on over and start booking hotels, to earn a free night's stay.  Tyler's birthday is March 27th, and I knew it would be a lot to have just been in Serbia to come home, wash our clothing and head out the[...]

Belgrade, Serbia

It's beginning to get really hard picking a favorite city! I mean come on I LOVE Bosnia, I LOVE Slovenia, I LOVE Serbia, we really haven't visited a place that I'm not in LOVE with! It's a GREAT problem to have considering all these places are places we could live for three years.  However, Serbia definitely left a special place in my heart! In Slovenia we have a nanny Natalija (really a good friend) that watches Heath during the day twice a week, so I can go out in town, run errands, have coffee wi[...]

Mostar, Bosnia with the Children!

It's not a secret I LOVE Bosnia! I LOVE Bosnia so much I'm always trying to figure out ways to get back to Bosnia. So when I found out that we would be traveling by Mostar, Bosnia on our way to Podgorica, Montenegro I suggested to Ty that we take a slight detour and visit Mostar the home to the famous bridge Stari Most (Old Bridge) . It was so worth the detour for many reasons! (I'll get to that in a minute!)  When we arrived in Mostar it was your typical Bosnian town. We found parking very[...]

Sarajevo, Bosnia

Sarajevo, Bosnia is my FAVORITE city on Earth!! Yes! It beats Ljubljana, Slovenia, Monterey, CA, and even my hometown! It’s the town of my dreams! It’s fantastic, and I’m going to tell you why. So when Tyler first told me we were heading to Bosnia, I was like, uhhh I don’t want to go. When I mentioned Bosnia, people gave me weird looks and always said how dirty it was and how much cigarette smoke was in that city. They were right!  What they didn’t tell me was how cool it was. In wh[...]

Zagreb, Croatia

Zagreb is the capital city of Croatia; it is also the largest city in the country. When I discovered that we would be traveling to Zagreb, I got on the internet and tried my VERY hardest to find kid-friendly activities to do in the city with the boys while Tyler was working. Sadly tho, I came up short! It was nearly impossible to find any information in English, and even when I did find articles in English, it was mainly about the museums, city, and nature during the summer, NOT the dead of winter! So here I[...]

A Taste of The States

We've lived in Slovenia now for exactly 2 months! As I've said before, living here is really not that difficult. I have, however, found myself missing things that are very common in The United States but not so common in Slovenia. You can only imagine how happy I was to finally have some things I'd missed in a care package from my mom and mother-in-law. It was Christmas in our house on Wednesday, and I may have almost cried! Ha  Below is a list of everyday things in The United States that can't really b[...]
