Lake Bled

We decided as a family that for every birthday we will travel somewhere and have lots of FUN! For Heath’s birthday, we did just that! We traveled a whopping 30 mins to Lake Bled and met our close friends Natalie, Shawn, and their dog Fang from Germany. We spent the weekend exploring, and relaxing in the little town of Lake Bled.

Lake Bled is a lake in Julian Alps, in the northwestern region of Slovenia. The lake surrounds the island that is home to the Church of the Assumption which dates back from the 17th century. The church is a popular place for people to get married, the only way to the church is via boat, or to swim ha It is also said that it is good luck for the groom to carry his bride up the 99 steps to the church.

Heath and I did not go to the castle, we decided it was best that we stay at the hotel and rest. The boys (Tyler and Nolan) and our friends went to the castle. They had to hike up stairs, that were covered in ice (thanks to the huge, random snow storm) Nolan loved it. It is said to be the oldest castle in Slovenia.

Below are some more images I took around Bled.

Lake Bled was breathtaking! We plan on visiting again this summer and exploring the hiking trails, and enjoying the outdoor activities Lake Bled has to offer.
